The Earth Institute's Sustainable Development Seminar Series brings together Earth Institute faculty members and research scientists working across diverse disciplines to address and communicate the major challenges of sustainable development.
The seminar series kicks off fall 2012 with, "A New Record Low in Arctic Sea Ice Extent." The seminar offered diverse viewpoints and vigorous discussion on "Implications of the Rapid Decline of the Arctic Sea Ice" including development of the Arctic.

The Earth Institute presents the second in the 2012-2013 Sustainable Development Seminar Series on Food Security. Balanced diets, reliable food sources, clean drinking water, stable agricultural systems and plant pollinators all contribute to the stability and well-being of a populace’s nutritional health. Healthy populations require healthy environments and sufficient nutrients to meet basic dietary needs.
