Lenora Suki - Associate Director

Lenora Suki joined the Earth Institute in December of 2002 to assist the Center on Globalization and Sustainable Development in its work with the Dominican Republic and with private and financial sector development issues. She is the lead investigator and project director of the Program on Remittances and Development, launched in November 2004 with the support of the Inter American Development Bank. She is also the Dominican Republic pilot country advisor for the Millennium Project. While at the Earth Institute, Lenora has authored various works on the Dominican Republic related to the Millennium Development Goals and diaspora issues. Among these are “Meeting the Millennium Development Goals in the Dominican Republic: Identifying Critical Areas for Policy Action,” co-authored with Joaquin Vial, and “Financial Institutions and the Remittances Market in the Dominican Republic.” She has participated as a member of the New York - Dominican Republic Task Force organized by President Leonel Fernandez, for which “Diaspora, Trade and Investment: Strategies for New York and the Dominican Republic” was written. Prior to joining the Earth Institute, Lenora spent five years in emerging markets finance as a Latin America sovereign bond strategist at Banco Santander Central Hispano in New York (1999-2002) and as an emerging markets investment analyst at Offitbank (now Wachovia). She received an MBA in 1997 from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked for four years at the World Bank in programs for Europe and Central Asia and in private sector development.
