Sustainable Development Strategies

At the invitation of President Fradique de Menezes, since mid-2003 Professor Jeffrey Sachs has led a team of experts advising the Sao Tomean government on strengthening STP's democracy, developing institutions to ensure transparency in oil transactions, and creating mechanisms to ensure that oil receipts are used for sustainable national development.   This large and varied effort is documented in a separate project website.
