Julie Touber is Assistant Director of the Earth Institute's Center for Sustainable Urban Development. She received a Master of Science degree in Urban Planning from Columbia's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. She also holds a degree in planning from La Sorbonne. Following an internship at UNESCO's World Heritage Center, her thesis work focused on the impacts of preservation policies on World Heritage Sites. Julie participated in a Columbia urban planning studio project in Accra, Ghana focusing on disaster mitigation. She has also written on scales of planning practices and development policies and performed a case study of the Sana'a in Yemen.
