Locations: United States of America

Special Locations:
New York City

Description:
The purpose of this project is to characterize traffic related particle exposures, especially from diesel engines, at four schools and two bus depots, with following aims: 1) to test whether location of school is an important determinant in the overall exposure of individuals (compared to time at home or outdoors) 2) to test whether daily asthma symptoms are related to daily changes in black carbon levels at schools, 3) to see whether one can measure change in neighborhood air pollutant levels after a bus depot conversion from diesel to natural gas or opening of a new diesel bus depot.
