Molecular Systematics, Biogeography and Conservation of Southeast Asian Rodents

Locations: Indonesia

Description:
DNA sequence data of rodents collected across the Malay Archipelago are used to elucidate molecular systematics and biogeographic patterns among the mammal communities in the area, and correlate these patterns with the geological history of the region. The information gathered helps us understand the evolutionary processes that shape the mammal communities in the area, the levels of endemicity, and how to use this information to design conservation strategies that better preserve the genetic diversity in the region.
