The Climate Challenge: Revitalizing the Debate

Co-hosted by the Columbia Climate Center at the Earth Institute, Columbia University, and the Consulate General of Denmark in New York

Mitigating Climate Change: A New Energy Landscape

Increasing global energy demand, while aiming to reduce emissions, will challenge world electricity systems. The integration of ever-increasing amounts of renewable energy requires innovative solutions for a smart electricity grid. Fossil fuels can provide certain economic advantages, especially in developing countries that are improving access to energy for their citizens and growing their economies, making carbon capture and storage a priority. However, research to accelerate deployment of biofuels and other renewable energy sources is essential for reaching targeted emission reductions.
