The Earth Institute Fellows Symposium: Meeting the Challenges of Sustainable Development in a Changing World
Introduction: Jeffrey D. Sachs
Speaker: Tien Ming Lee
The interplay of social and environmental factors in China, the most populous nation with a rapidly growing economy worldwide, will play a dominant role in charting the global environmental outcomes this century. Yet, little is known about the Chinese environmental attitudes and the factors that influence them. By integrating a nationally represented social survey with environmental data, we attempt to unravel the factors that drive pro-environmental behaviors among the Chinese across urban cities in 26 administrative divisions.
